Two Democratic lawmakers, State Representative Patty Marie Stinson (D) and State Senator Freddie Powell Sims (D), are endorsing Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper (R) for re-election, his campaign announced Oct. 6. Sims is not seeking re-election.

“When I call Tyler Harper, he answers, and when farmers in my district need support, Tyler delivers,” Stinson said in the release. Sims said Harper has “built relationships across the aisle and around the state that make him an incredibly effective Commissioner and advocate for Georgia farmers.” “Supporting Georgia agriculture is not a partisan issue,” Harper said in the release. Harper faces Democrat Katherine E. Juhan-Arnold on Nov. 3.

In the race for governor, the campaign of Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) announced Oct. 5 that 32 law enforcement officials from across the state back her, and its release lists 30 names. They include Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat, Cobb County Sheriff Craig D. Owens Sr., DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Bottoms said she would be “a strong partner to law enforcement” as governor. She faces Republican Rick Jackson.

Updated Oct. 24: This story was rewritten to lead with the cross-party endorsement. Some details were shortened, and no fact was corrected.
