U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff (D) challenged U.S. Rep. Mike Collins (R) in Duluth on Oct. 3 to join him in demanding an end to the war in Iran, which Ossoff’s campaign says is driving up prices across Georgia. “I am challenging Mike Collins to join me in demanding an end to this war,” Ossoff said, according to a post on his campaign website.

The campaign’s post frames the war as a pocketbook issue. It says Georgians “foot the bill” for it, and that they have paid an additional $1.4 billion for gas because of the war, about $352 more per household than they otherwise would have. The post links those figures to a WSB-TV report on an analysis by Brown University’s Watson School of International and Public Affairs, which estimated that Georgians have paid an extra $1.41 billion for gas since the war began in February, about $352 per household.

The two are running against each other in the U.S. Senate race, where Ossoff is the incumbent and Collins represents Georgia’s 10th District in the U.S. House.

InsiderAdvantage’s August and September Georgia polls both had Ossoff ahead. In its poll of 1,200 likely voters on Sept. 22 and 23, he led Collins 50% to 42%. In its August survey of 800 likely voters, he led 50% to 43%.
